There is nothing I like more than CHOCOLATE!! It is definitely my go to sweet whenever my sweet tooth is knocking. And face it, who doesn’t like brownies? NO ONE, EVER. They make me smile, and this recipe will make you smile too!!! For this recipe, I divided the batter and made half with caramel and half just regular chocolate. Both these ways are easy and delicious, and I will show you how!
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees
Grease an 8 inch square pan
– 4 ounces of semi sweet chocolate (chopped if in bars) or ½ cup of semi sweet chocolate chips
– ½ pound of butter (1 stick)
– ½ teaspoon of vanilla
– 1 cup of light brown sugar
– 2 large eggs
– ¾ cup and 2 tablespoons of flour
– ¼ teaspoon of baking powder
– Pinch of salt
– OPTIONAL: ¼ – ⅓ cup of caramel sauce for ice cream topping
Combine the chopped chocolate and butter in a microwave safe bowl or double boiler. If in a double boiler, fill the bottom pot with about ½ inch to an inch of water and set on the stove, then put the second pot on top and melt the butter and chocolate, stirring occasionally. If in a microwave safe bowl, put it in the microwave for 30 seconds at a time, stirring after each 30 second interval (should take about a minute and a half to 2 minutes to fully melt). Set aside and let it come down to room temp.
Combine flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl. Once the chocolate and butter is at room temperature, add brown sugar, vanilla, and eggs, stir together. Then add the flour a little at a time until all is incorporated.
POUR THAT BATTER INTO THE PAN!
NOTE: If you want to make caramel chocolate brownies, pour the caramel sauce on top of the batter in the pan. Take a knife or a fork to swirl the batter and caramel together.
And cook for about 15 minutes.
